The Boston University Animal Science Center (BU ASC) is seeking partners for the co-development of a Laboratory Animal Caregiver Registered Apprenticeship program to provide training and support for individuals wishing to enter the biomedical research domain as a caregiver of animals.

The Apprenticeship will provide the basic knowledge and training necessary to work effectively as an early career Animal Care Technician. It will help to increase public awareness of these jobs and address the the preference of hiring employers for job seekers to have previous experience in the field. At the conclusion of the Apprenticeship, participants will have fulfilled the prerequisite time on-the-job to sit for the for the national credentialing exam for the certification of Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT), administered by the American Association of Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS).
